The basis of this piece is a field recording from Tokyo. It's an interesting backdrop to some washy, digital harsh noise. The noise comes in waves initially, but then starts to dominate the mix as it goes on.
It seems like the noise originates a synth as you can hear it oscillate at points, which is then ran through some kind of noisy processing. It makes for a simple but interesting contrast throughout the piece.
With the romantic theme surrounding this, it turns out to be an odd and fresh 20 minutes.
A soundtrack to a series of art books previously released by the band, "Music from Taiwan Mystery" combines slow-paced electronic psychedelia with samples from vintage video games and film. Bandcamp Album of the Day Apr 28, 2021
