about

This is the debut of multi national project, Cartoon Network Is Dead, from Mexico and Spain.

This is a really fun one. Noisecore with quite clear synths. The titles take some jabs at Cartoon Network as one would expect, pummeling the listener with the guitar, drums, and vocals; but then refreshing the experience with some genuinely nice sounding synths.

The vocals are more of the brutal death metal-ish type, the guttural boat horn type, giving it a death metal tinge over the whole thing.

The synth uses quite melodic lines, the first track even sounds a touch j-pop, then the second sci-fi-esque. The rest are pretty dungeon synth sounding, maybe with a touch or Runescape or Twin Peaks in there.

The drums are quite far back in the mix but do add the very necessary pounding away one likes and needs in noisecore. I do like that they were programmed to not go a million miles a minute either, its a nice change.

The guitar adds the noisy, gritty layer that acts as a bed for the vocals and synth, also acting to bring out the harsh frequencies needed for some grinding noisecore.

Super fun EP from CNID, I really do look forward to the future for this act, they have (at least in my opinion) a pretty refreshing take on noisecore, that has me wanting more.
